We celebrated Guy Fawkes Day on Saturday night. Ever heard of it? Neither had we until we moved here. Guy Fawkes was a man that tried to blow up Parliment years and years ago and got caught. He was hung, drawn and quartered...look that up, it's quite interesting! Anyway, from that time on, the Brits have celebrated Guy being caught - through a bonfire with a strawman being hung and burned above it.Times have changed, no more strawman. At least not in Beaconsfield, but they have replaced it with fireworks. It's kind of nice to have the kids see the fireworks in the pitchblack darkeness of 8:00, rather than waiting until 10:30 in the summer on the fourth. The kids loved it with Jeb laughing the whole time! But, I'll still take the fourth of July. Can't give up my favorite holiday!
