It was the second Sunday in Lent this past weekend, so that means it's time to celebrate mummy (aka UK Mother's Day!). We started the festivities on Friday with a special assembly at school with the Reception children leading. Aiden kept everything very secret throughout the week. The only thing that he told me was that his mummy was fantastic because 'she garden's with me.' (He's the best at weeding!!). So, Friday came and we sat down to listen to 30 cuties singing to us. It just happened to be to the tune 'You Are My Sunshine,' which I have been singing to Aiden since he was a baby. It was so sweet. Just in case you can't hear the words on the video, here they are:
You are my Mummy, my dearest Mummy, You make me happy, when I am sad, I want to tell you, I really I love you, When I'm with you, I am so glad!
On to Sunday, where I was awoken by three boys serving me breakfast in bed. Jelly bellies shaken by Jeb, a new 'mum' mug from Aiden, and an English teapot from Jacob. It was the first time the boys each picked out their gift on their own (ok, I influenced Jacob just a bit...I'm only teaching him how to pick up on a woman's hints for the future!!). It was a great start to the day, but it only got better when we took a trip to the Cotswolds and the trout farm!
We had visited when Jeb had turned one and always wanted to come back, but this time we promised to do some fishing. First we walked around and fed the fish, trying desperately not to let Jeb fall in. Thank goodness for his reigns!! Jacob couldn't stand it any longer, so we headed to the fishing area. Two poles, a bucket and a stick (I'll tell you what that was for later!) and we were good to go. We fished, and fished, and fished...nothing! I gave the 10 minute warning and sure enough, Jacob pulled up a trout. After a quick pic, Tom took the fish and the stick and I can only tell you what I heard since I couldn't bear to watch. 'Bam!, bam!' I turned to see Tom with blood all over his hands and the fish still moving! 'Hit it on the head!!!!' And he did. And that was that. This is the traditional way of fishing. Yikes! He was a much better aim with Aiden's fish!
A sunny day in the Cotswolds with my three boys. Couldn't ask for anything more!
