This past weekend we drove 2 hours to Dover, just on the coast of the English Channel. It was a nice sunny, 45 degree day, so touring was a must.
First stop was Dover Castle; built 1190. It's 
most famous resident was Henry VIII. It was pretty amazing to stand on the top and in this midevil castle and imagine the kings and queens who had dined (and died) here before.

They were started during Napoleon's reign, but were significantly increased during WWII and were used as a hospital and post for planning out attacks against the Germans across the Channel in France. These tunnels are so extensive that they can house 13,000 people!
At the end of our day, we went to see the famed white cliffs of Dover. Beautiful, but cliffs without any fences makes for a very nervous mum!
